Visa  

1- Syrian citizens who hold Australian passports can obtain a free visa upon arrival in Syria, but they should do the following:
a- Hold a Syrian document proving their Syrian nationality (Syrian ID, Syrian driving license, Syrian passport “expired passports are accepted”)
b- Present the attached document to the airline officer in the Australian airport to prove their ability to obtain a visa upon arrival at Damascus Airport (Click here to print the document) .
2- Unregistered children of a Syrian father can obtain a free visa on their Australian passports upon arrival in Syria provided they present an Australian family record proving the Syrian nationality of their father.

Important Note: The validity of the visa starts from the day it was issued by the Embassy. The single entry visa expires after 3 months from the date of issuance by the Embassy, while the multiple entry visa expires after 6 months.

Documents required to obtain a Syrian visa :

1- The applicant's passport. It should be valid at least for 6 months. Travel Documents or Identity Certificates should be valid for one year at least.
2- Holders of Travel Document or Identity Certificate should have at least one-year residence stamped on it.
3- Two application forms, with an original photograph on each (scanned photos are not accepted).
4- A return stamped envelope (registered mail) directed to the applicant's address.
5- Visa fees :
• For Australian passport holders AU$ 100 (single entry valid for three months from the date of issuance).
• For Australian passport holders AU$ 100 (multiple entries valid for six months from the date of issuance).
• For New Zealand passport holders AU$ 105 (single entry valid for three months or multiple entry valid for six months from the date of issuance). Please indicate the reason if you apply for a multiple.
• For other nationalities, please call the Consular Section in the Embassy to inquire about the fee.
• Method of payment: money order or bank cheque payable to the Syrian Embassy. Personal and company cheques are not accepted.
• Passports that have an Israeli visa or stamp cannot be issued a Syrian visa.
6- Holders of non-Australian passports should obtain a letter of authenticity for the passport from the embassy of their country in Australia certifying the validity of the passport and that the information therein is correct. The passport should have Australian residency. (This item is very important). New Zealand passport holders, who reside in New Zealand, should provide a letter of authenticity for the passport from the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand.
7- The a.m. documents with the passport should be sent to :

8- Applicants who live in New Zealand should arrange for a courier to collect their documents and provide the Embassy with a booking number. The Embassy will call the courier whenever the documents are ready.

9- Every person younger than 18 years, whose father is Syrian, needs a letter of approval from his father allowing him to exit Syria, if not accompanied by him . Along with a copy of the father's passport and AU$ 7.

10- Tourist groups that consist of eight persons or more are entitled for a free group visa, provided that the trip to Syria including entry and exit is made in one group. To obtain this, the travel agent should send the visa application for each one and send a letter to the Embassy expressing the wish for that group to travel together to Syria.
11- The Embassy does not bear any responsibility for the cost of a ticket if purchased before having the Syrian visa on the passport.

12- Journalists who intend to make media activities need to provide the Embassy with a letter explaining the nature of their trip.

Very Important

13- Please do not call the Embassy to inquire about the above items because they are self-explanatory. The Embassy will answer only those cases that are not mentioned above.
14- Please do not call to ask whether the Embassy has received your documents as they are sent by registered mail. The Embassy apologises for not answering such questions. You can ask the post office to check about this.
15- Double-check carefully all the above mentioned items carefully before sending your application, because the Embassy will not process any request if it does not satisfy all the mentioned requirements, and in that case the documents will be sent back by the attached return envelope to be completed and the Embassy will not be responsible for any delay.

16- Visa processing time in the Embassy can take up to three working days. The Embassy will not answer the applicants’ requests regarding their visas before seven days from the date of receiving the passport.

17- Visa can be obtained at the Embassy by physical presence on the same day.
